Maraschino Cherry Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) bottle maraschino cherries, cut up, with juice
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 pound walnuts or pecans, chopped
2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 1/4 cups flour, divided
4 eggs, separated
Milk
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 9-inch tube pan. In a cup, pour the cherry juice and the milk.
Toss the cherries and the nuts in cup of flour. In a bowl, beat the butter and the sugar, adding the yolks one by one. Then, put in the cherries and the nuts.
In another bowl, sift 3 cups of flour, the baking soda and the baking powder and add to the butter mixture, alternating with liquid. Add in the egg whites (beaten) and fold. Pour in the pan and bake for 1 hour.
