Orange-Poppy Seed Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup cooking oil
1 cup sifted powdered sugar, optional
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup poppy seed
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons finely shredded orange peel
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs
3 to 4 teaspoons orange juice, optional
3/4 cup milk
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 F. A 10-inch fluted tube pan should be greased and floured. Put the flour, the baking powder, the sugar, the poppy seed and the salt in a bowl and sift.
Then, add the eggs, the milk, the oil, the orange peel and the cup of orange juice. Beat the ingredients for about 1 minute and pour the mixture in the pan. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a cake test is done.
The decoration can be made of powdered sugar and 3-4 teaspoons of orange juice whisked together. Then top the cake with it. Cover it and keep for up to 3 days at room temperature.
